YMCA of Metro Atlanta Announces Enrollment Opportunities Available for 2023 Afterschool Programs
Organization offers reimagined afterschool programs for children to learn and grow
ATLANTA (August X, 2023) The YMCA of Metro Atlanta today announced enrollment opportunities are available for its Y Explore Afterschool Programs for the 2023-2024 school year. The Y serves more than 55 metro Atlanta elementary schools and offers programs at 11 Y locations.
Y Explore Afterschool Programs include an innovative, reimagined and learner-centered curriculum that incorporates programmed activities, such as clubs and imagination stations, to align with the YMCA’s strategic goal of career awareness and skill building for kids K through 5th grade. The program also incorporates various afterschool themes, such as innovation and invention, to create a cohesive experience for children.
“The Y’s afterschool programs focus on harboring social growth and academic achievement. Our goal is to help children learn and grow from an advanced curriculum in a welcoming and accepting environment,” said Lauren Koontz, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. “Through our afterschool curriculum, students can safely explore their talents and stay active during after school hours.”
This year, the Y is partnering with WINGS for Kids, a nonprofit organization that offers students foundational life skills by integrating social and emotional learning. Afterschool programs offer a wide range of focus areas for students, including theatre, community service, culture and diversity, STEAM, sports and more.
The cost for children to attend is $85 full-time or $45 part-time. A free/reduced lunch rate is available for $55 full-time for those in need. The Y accepts Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) and offers financial assistance.
